Instead of Internet-based churn and burn we’ll be focusing on building equity in the Internet. So if you see some highly-paid SEO consultant telling you to use software and spun content to generate links, or when you see some blackhatter beating the system, just know that it’s not worth it. We’re going to build authority and get traffic fast, but we’re going to do it in a way that doesn’t disappear or cripple your site in the future. Links have always been a valuable aspect of an SEOs strategy, and many SEO agencies focus on building relevant links to get first page search results on Google. Search engines like aged domains, and give them more authority over newer sites. If you are not a regular monitor of your blogs, it’s better to make all your comments a no follow, or else you might breach Google’s terms of service.
The Presence of Keywords in the Page Title and URL is Crucial
Over the years, Google has continued to improve their link algorithms, including Penguin, and they continued to use manual penalties to crack down on link schemes as well. Earning a link from
a high-quality, relevant website will not only help with your SEO but also with referral traffic, which can lead to more sales and brand exposure. Do you review and analyze your competitor’s website? You should. I do. I always keep an eye on the business across the street, or in my case, across the internet. Adjusting your keyword distribution gives you power to change your campaign over time.
Enable broswer caching
Include any keywords you want to rank for in the title tag. The closer to the start of the tag the keyword is, the more likely that your page will rank for that keyword If you haven’t already
I highly recommend you sign up for both Google Analytics and Google Webmaster tools. Both of them are free, and provide a wealth of information about your website, who visits it and what keywords they are using which really helps when planning/assessing your SEO campaign. Rankings matter. But they’re not the metric you should be focusing on. The readability of your content has to do with the simplicity of its language, the lack of grammatical or syntactical errors, and the sentence structure. Online readability tests allow you to learn the “reading age” someone needs to understand your content.
Your content strategy could use a facelift
Your first question should be 'what are my keywords?' Excercise - take a sheet of paper and write down the words that you think are important and relevant to your site. Google recognizes that a site might have two versions on the same page (web version and printer friendly version), and this duplicate content is actually meant to make for a better user-experience, and not trick the search engines. While the page meta data (page description and keywords) are not nearly as important as they used to be, they still count. Take advantage of them by putting your keyword or phrase there. According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant
: "Search engines were nothing new; the first one was Archie created back in 1990, and there had been more than a few created between then & when Google launched (most notably Yahoo!)"
Understand the increasing real-time aspect of SEO
The robots exclusion standard or robots.txt, is a standard used by websites to communicate with web crawlers and robots. It specifies which areas of the website should not be processed. Not all robots cooperate with robots.txt; namely: email harvesters, spambots, malware, and robots which scan for security vulnerabilities. You should use large
header tags and take advantage of CSS to alter these to fit into the style and colour scheme of your page. If you are using software such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer/FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver for example, these CSS details are created automatically for you. A solution which is also perhaps advisable is to make your CSS an external file; this way there is no need to repeat all of your CSS statements on each page, but simply just one. Google is showing Context is King when it comes to indexing people in Google's Index. SEO is not the techniques we use to get our sites to the top of Google. SEO is simply the objective of getting to the top of Google. Any technique you use to try and get more attention from Google could be considered SEO.
